Hazardous Area Certified Devices

Transtek are a market leader in providing mobility and calibration devices and solutions designed for Australian production and maintenance personnel working in potentially hazardous gas and dust environments.

Our range covers the following applications:

  • Communication
Intrinsically safe mobile phones, headsets and speaker mics
  • Information Technology
Ex rated cameras, PC's, tablets, handheld computers and scanners
  • Portable Lighting
Hazardous area certified torches, headlamps, inspection lamps and area lighting systems
  • Testing & Inspection
Intrinsically safe pressure test devices, multimeters, thermometers, thickness gauges, distance meters, etc.

Electrical and electronic devices must be modified and then certified as 'safe' before they can be used where potentially hazardous gas or dust may be present. The demand in the industry is to work smarter and more efficiently, and while mobile technology offers these benefits, it's easy to disregard the dangers that these devices pose when used in proximity to combustible gas or dust. In Australia, we see and hear of issues overseas and often think, "It couldn't happen here..." but the following pictures prove differently...

We work in close partnership with our European based suppliers to provide solutions that are certified to Australian requirements for hazardous areas, telecommunications and emissivity standards. For more information on product certification for hazardous areas or what it takes to make a device 'intrinsically safe', see our Tek Tip on the subject.
