Altek Industries Corp was founded in 1979 as a manufacturer of single function hand-held calibrators for the process control industries. Producing hand-held calibrators for several variables encountered in the process control industries, Altek provides high-accuracy standards for calibrating devices used by the chemical, power production, food processing, pharmaceutical industries and many other type of processes around the world.

In April of 1996, Altek became a wholly owned subsidiary of Transmation Corporation, a company also known in the industry for many years for its own accurate and reliable calibration devices. In 1999 the Altek manufacturing group was amalgamated with the Instrument Division of Transmation as the Transmation Products Group. Through their reputation for simple, yet functional design, stable accuracy, ruggedness and portability, Altek calibrators have been distributed in nearly every country in the world, providing traceable calibration standards for current, voltage, frequency, temperature and more recently, pressure.
